Can anyone recommend a good (Cheep or free) graphics/desktop publishing/picture editing software?

I’m not sure about the terminology here. I want to be able to do the following:

It should in part work similar to a program such as Microsoft’s Power point, in that is you should be able to combine text, pictures and drawings and other types of graphics. You should be able to create stylized text with various “special effects” like Microsoft’s WordArt. However as opposed to PowerPoint you should be able to save the finished result as an image (jpeg). This is very important. Using PowerPoint I need to first press “print screen” and paste it in “Paint” in order to save it as an image, and that is no good since the result turns out a bit blurry and unclear, and I can only get images with the same size as the screen, obviously.

I should bee either cheep or free or part of Microsoft’s Office Suit

Asking this same question before someone suggested “paint.net”, but having downloaded “Paint Shop Pro” I don’t find the features I requested. There are no “WordArt” – type feature as far as I can see. I appreciate the suggestion but please explain if I have misunderstood that suggestion.

Please give me an idea about free website design & publishing. Is there any free website design software by which I can design website & which support google adsense? (I found many scam, but I want real one)

In terms of free designs and useful features, there is nothing that beats WordPress. It is fully customizable if you choose to do so in the future and to start off, you have thousands of template designs to work with.

You can easily add Adsense or even advertising banners if you prefer.

Another reason why wordpress is good is for search engine optimization (SEO). You can install plugins that will help you improve the visibility of your website.

where do i publish my free software?

i’m not getting enough publicity on sourceforge or download.com(and i hate their 15 day publishing delay)

Just do a search on Yahoo for Freeware and you will get tons of hits for places to list your free software. I personally like tucows, but hundreds of sites are listed. Please do not include nonsense like Google Search, adware, etc. A lot of the sites should start blocking any software that advertises or installs extras. Hope this helps
