Your Questions About Publishing Software

Betty asks…

What desktop publishing software is compatible with Windows Vista?

This question was asked by someone else about a year ago. I want to see if there are more choices now that Vista has been out awhile longer. The last answer was “Publisher 2007″ and “Serif Page Plus”. I am actually looking for software for small business owner – nothing massive but does what I need it to do – create my own business forms, brochures, advertising, etc. Thanks in advance for any answers.

Linda asks…

What is the best site forgetting good cookbook publishing software?

I am looking for the best software to create a cookbook.

admin answers:

“Book” form can be any of hundreds of displays (for Internet) or printed forms…it depends on what ‘style’ you want to go with.
Until you research further what manner you are going with, here’s a small application (freeware) that might help you get started and organize yourself for the final product:
Dannon Recipe Box
lets you store, organize and share all your favorite recipes. The program comes pre-loaded with dozens of recipes, and you can search through them by course/meal, occasion, preparation method, main ingredients and other criteria. You can add your own recipes along with a photo (if available)…

Helen asks…

Does desktop publishing software do essentially the same thing as word-processing software?

With the exception that desktop publishing can process larger documents? I am unable to find the answer in my textbook. It shuffles around a few different answers and that never works on a test. Thanks!

admin answers:

They are similar, but NOT the same. They were designed with different purposes in mind. A simple way to think about the difference is “Publishing.” One is more geared to document creation, one is more geared to document publication online.

There are volumes more that can be said, but this is the ‘short answer.’
